Terms & Conditions of Entry
Please read these conditions carefully before submitting your entry. By entering the Port Lincoln Art Prize, you agree to the following terms
Eligibility & Judging
Artists may submit a maximum of two (2) artworks. Each artwork must be an original work created and owned by the submitting artist completed after January 2026.
Entry fees are $40 per Open entry and $22 per Youth entry
All artists will be notified whether their artwork has been selected for exhibition and judging. Final judging will be undertaken by an independent judge. The judge's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Prize winners will be announced at the Opening Night
Artwork Requirements
Eligible artworks may be created in any visual art medium, excluding photography. The Organisers reserve the right to determine the eligibility of artworks and to reject entries that do not comply with the conditions of entry. All artworks entered must be available for sale during the exhibition. A commission of 25% will be retained on all sales. All 2D artworks must be ready to hang with flat D-rings and suitable hanging wire attached. All 3D artworks must be stable, able to stand independently and capable of being moved safely. Wall-based works must not exceed 2 square metres (excluding frame. 3D works must not exceed 1m wide, 1m deep, 2m high and 100kg and must fit through a doorway measuring 1.5m wide x 2m high. Each artwork must have a clearly labelled tag attached to the back or underside, including the artist's name and contact details. The Nautilus Arts Centre reserves the right to reject any artwork that is wet, dangerous, unstable, fragile or otherwise unsuitable for exhibition. Artists whose work is selected for exhibition agree not to withdraw their artwork before the exhibition closes.
Delivery & Collection
Artists are responsible for the delivery and collection of their artwork at their own expense. Unsold artworks must be collected within 7 days of the exhibition closing. Works not collected within this period may become the property of the Nautilus Arts Centre.
Terms and Conditions of Sale
The Nautilus Arts Centre and Gallery Shop are owned and operated by the City of Port Lincoln. Artists/Exhibitors submitting work for display and/or sale in the Nautilus Arts Centre agree to the following terms:
1. Eligibility & Assessment
All works must comply with the Exhibition Terms and Conditions as outlined on Entry Form.
2. Pricing and Sales Commission
Retail prices are to be agreed upon by both the artist and Council staff. Prices must include GST. A 25% commission will be deducted from the final retail price on each item sold.
3. Payments
Payment Schedule: Net payments to artists will be made by the end of the month following the exhibition closing. Payments will be transferred directly to the artist’s nominated bank account.
4. Artwork Management and Display
The Council will provide a professional and creative space in which works will be displayed. All works unsold must be collected and removed once the exhibition is closed.
5. Damaged or lost Works
The Council will exercise all reasonable care; however, no responsibility will be accepted for any lost or damaged works. The Artist/Exhibitor agrees to indemnify the Council for any loss or damage to any works submitted. The Artist/Exhibitor should affect suitable insurance cover for the works for the agreement’s duration.
6. Photographs and Artist Information
Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP): Any works that portray community’s traditional knowledge and/or cultural expressions must be brought to the attention of Council staff. Staff will work with the artist to ensure that appropriate signage can be displayed to acknowledge and respect the cultural significance and ICIP rights associated with the work.
Photographic Consent: The artist/exhibitor consents to the Council taking photographs of their works for purposes including wall plaque displays, inventory cataloguing and promotional use via the NAC and/or Council social media platforms, virtual gallery and website.
